What inspired you to become a leadership coach?
It actually started when I was working in advertising and found myself constantly volunteering for HR-related tasks—recruitment, training, development programs. I realized that I was naturally drawn to the human side of business. That led me to transition into human resources, and eventually into learning and development. Over time, I saw how powerful it was to support others through thought partnership. I loved helping people discover parts of themselves they didn’t even know existed. That’s what led me into coaching—specifically, leadership coaching.
Tell us more about Barnett Coaching and the kind of work you do.
I’m trained as an integral coach, which means I help people integrate their head, heart, and body intelligence to solve problems and grow holistically. I work with individual clients, teams, and also offer leadership development programs. My goal is to help clients unlock their full potential—whether that’s by turning up the volume on a key strength or helping remove a limiting belief that’s holding them back.
Are your services available globally?
At the moment, I primarily operate in the United States, but I’m absolutely open to working with clients globally. Technology has made it possible to connect across time zones, and I’m always excited by the idea of expanding reach and impact.
As a woman entrepreneur, what challenges have you faced—both initially and now?
In the first year or two, I had to give myself a lot of grace. The biggest learning curve was on the business side—setting up systems, marketing, branding, payments, you name it. I came from a corporate leadership background where those things were handled for me. Now I have to wear all the hats, especially when it comes to business development. It’s a big shift.
Do you manage everything yourself or work with a team?
I’m not shy about delegating. I’ve built a small ecosystem of support around me—outsourcing things like accounting or design, and collaborating with other entrepreneurs. I also surround myself with a community of experts for partnership opportunities and peer support. It can be lonely being a solopreneur, so having that circle is vital.
What are your short-term goals for this year or quarter—personally or professionally?
I recently launched my first book titled “Working Hell to Working Well: Making Your Company Work for You.” Right now, my focus is on spreading the word about the book—through social media and other platforms—so it can reach the people it’s meant to help. That’s the key goal for this quarter.
What’s one piece of advice you’d like to share with aspiring women entrepreneurs?
Burnout is contagious—but so is well-being. When we take care of ourselves and model healthy leadership, it doesn’t just benefit us—it uplifts the people around us too. Let’s build a well-being ecosystem, not just for ourselves but for our communities.
