Tell us about your journey into Reiki. What inspired you to begin this healing practice?
I began as someone receiving Reiki myself. My son, who is autistic, was going through a very difficult time at school, and I was facing depression and stress. Reiki helped me reconnect with myself. Over time, I realized it could also help my family, especially my son who struggled with sleep and anxiety. That’s when I started learning Reiki, beginning with Level 1 just to support my loved ones, and slowly progressed to become a practitioner.
What makes Reiki so special for you, especially in working with children?
Reiki is powerful, especially for children with additional needs. I’ve seen it firsthand with my son. He doesn’t produce melatonin, so sleep was always a challenge. When I began doing Reiki for him at bedtime, he’d calm down and fall asleep more easily. I’ve worked with children who fidget, move around during sessions, and yet they eventually curl up into complete relaxation. Reiki meets them where they are—it’s gentle, safe, and doesn’t require stillness or talking, which is perfect for kids.
How do you envision the future of Reiki and holistic practices in society?
I would love to see Reiki in schools. We need to start young—teaching children how to understand emotions, cope with stress, and build resilience. My dream is to have a Wellbeing Centre, a place accessible to all, especially children. I’ve even connected with someone in Portugal who introduced Reiki into a school, and I’d love to explore that further. Mental health challenges are so widespread now, and Reiki can be a powerful support.
Beyond Reiki, do you have any other personal aspirations or creative goals?
Yes, I’d love to write a book about grief—something inspired by the recent loss of my mother. While I lost my father years ago, this grief feels different. I want to create something that blends storytelling with guidance, something to help others navigate their emotions. Writing helps me process, and I think a book could do the same for others.
How do people find you and your services today?
Mostly through Google and word of mouth. A lot of people find my website, read my story, and feel connected. I’ve found that sharing my personal journey—especially around autism—really resonates. Social media hasn’t brought in as many clients yet, but I’m working on being more consistent there too.
Are there any workshops or future plans that you’re excited about?
Absolutely! I’ve started doing group meditations and Reiki at events like the Mind, Body, Spirit show in London and Birmingham. I’d love to expand that—do more training sessions, support my students better, and maybe even host a retreat. I’m also planning children’s workshops with meditation, sound healing, and creativity. It’s all about reaching more people, especially the younger generation.
Have you faced any challenges in your journey so far?
Plenty. Technically, managing emails, content, and social media while running a practice is tough. Personally, caring for my autistic son while handling a six-year-long compensation case was incredibly draining. Grieving my mother has also hit me hard. But I’ve realized now that healing is non-linear—it takes time and trust. I’m learning to give myself grace and continue growing, even when things feel heavy.
Lastly, what message would you like to leave with our readers?
Trust your inner wisdom. Even when things feel unclear or you’re on the edge of giving up, remember—breakthrough lies just beyond that edge. Everything unfolds in perfect timing. Let go of needing all the answers; clarity comes when the soul is ready to receive it.
Karen’s story is a testament to the strength that grows from love, resilience, and inner trust. Her work is not just about healing others but also healing generations—one Reiki session, one child, one soul at a time.
