George Pitagorsky: Walking the Peaceful Warrior’s Path to Awareness and Equality

George Pitagorsky

George Pitagorsky is an author, coach, and technologist who has dedicated his life to cultivating mindful awareness in both personal and professional spheres. With a career spanning over five decades in technology and leadership, he has combined Eastern philosophies with modern practices to guide people toward self-awareness and fulfillment. Featured in Humans of Fuzia’s HeForShe series, George’s story stands as an inspiration to our 5M+ community, reminding us that empowerment and equality are achieved when we break barriers and lead with awareness.

Q: Your book, The Peaceful Warrior’s Path, has touched many lives. What inspired you to write it?
George: The inspiration came from my own experiences of applying Buddhist and Eastern philosophies since the 1970s. The message is simple: give back, give, serve, remember. The book serves as a guide to help people live optimally, with balance and purpose.

Q: You also founded “Self-Aware Living.” Can you share the vision behind it?
George: Self-Aware Living is about looking inward as much as outward. By recognizing and removing the obstacles we create for ourselves, we can live happier, more effective lives. Self-awareness is at the core of healthy relationships, good performance, and lasting success.

Q: You’ve been deeply involved in technology since 1964. What are your thoughts on AI and its impact?
George: I see AI as a tool rather than a threat. It can simulate creativity and certainly impacts jobs, but instead of resisting it, entrepreneurs should learn to integrate AI into their work. I view it as a medium — just like paint or clay for an artist — that we can use creatively.

Q: You’ve worked with many remarkable women leaders. Could you share some of those experiences?
George: I’ve worked with inspiring women who built international companies, led banking innovations in the 1980s, and broke through male-dominated environments with grace and capability. On a personal level, my wife has had a 50-year career as a psychotherapist, and my daughter-in-law is an advocate for women in the arts. These experiences reaffirm my belief that effectiveness comes when we drop gender labels and focus on breaking barriers.

Q: What has been your biggest professional challenge?
George: Marketing and sales have always been my greatest challenges. I love the work itself — writing, coaching, consulting — but putting it out into the world and getting people to pay for it has been tough. Still, I believe in taking on the things we’re not naturally good at and improving step by step.

“In the end, it’s about becoming self-aware, dropping the labels, and asking: how can I give, serve, and make a difference in this moment?” – George Pitagorsky
