Tabbin Almond had a long and largely secret struggle to regain control over alcohol. Alcohol-free since 2018, she now works full-time as an alcohol-freedom coach, speaker, podcast host, and writer. Her book ‘Bottling Up Trouble – how alcohol is harming your business and what you can do about it’ is an Amazon best-seller and has been shortlisted for the Business Book of the Year Awards 2025.
If your business could have a mascot, what would it be and why?
A bottle of alcohol-free sparkling wine called All Bottle, No Trouble.
What strategies do you employ to maintain a healthy work-life balance while running your own business?
I go to the gym at least five times a week where I do a mix of cardio and strength work (weights). I take part in fitness competitions such as HYROX, and I also really enjoy long walks in the countryside with friends and family (and dogs!).
When faced with unexpected detours on your business path, how do you pivot with grace and resilience, showing fellow women entrepreneurs the way forward?
I have a mantra which guides me… ‘What is the kindest thing I can do for myself right now?’ If I take care of my own physical, mental, and emotional well-being, I can be in a position to offer help and guidance to others as well.
How do you measure the success of your business beyond financial metrics, such as customer satisfaction or community engagement?
When clients complete a coaching course with me, I ask them to complete a feedback form.
Can you share a memorable moment where you witnessed significant growth or transformation in your business, illustrating the impact of your services/products?
My book being shortlisted for Business Book of the Year has been really helpful to my business, as it helps people to know that it is a serious, well-written, and respected book and not a “vanity project.”
What role do you believe mentorship plays in the success of small businesses, and how have mentors influenced your own entrepreneurial journey?
Three amazing women have mentored me at various stages of my journey so far. Each of them has helped me overcome the imposter syndrome that comes with starting a new business, launching a podcast, and writing a book in my 60s.
What’s your work all about, and how does it make a difference in the world?
Quite simply, I change lives. My clients come to me broken and unhappy, feeling powerless in their relationship with alcohol. I coach them and help them develop self-compassion… and once that is in place, it is so much easier to leave behind the self-sabotage of alcohol.
