Could you describe your initiative/startup’s purpose and vision and how it benefits its target audience?
Line Cutterz was created to solve a simple problem — cutting fishing line cleanly, quickly, and safely — but it has evolved into a purpose-driven brand dedicated to innovation, empowerment, and accessibility across multiple industries. Our vision is to become the world’s most trusted cutting solutions company, much like Yeti is to coolers. We design patented tools that enhance the lives of anglers, crafters, safety professionals, and everyday problem-solvers. Whether you’re on a boat, at a sewing machine, or behind the wheel, Line Cutterz empowers people to work smarter, safer, and with confidence—one cut at a time.
As far as entrepreneurship is concerned, your journey is quite inspiring. What are some of your most significant accomplishments and how did you achieve them?
One of my proudest accomplishments was turning a simple idea—cutting fishing line faster and safer—into a patented, nationally recognized product line. I built Line Cutterz from scratch, with no outside funding, and it’s now a fast-scaling brand with 6 issued patents, 3 pending, and 5 registered trademarks. We were featured on Shark Tank, showcased on ABC’s The View, and are now gearing up to hit Walmart shelves nationwide. Our tools are enhancing lives in fishing, crafting, and automotive—while new products for home improvement and even medical applications are in development. It’s all been achieved through relentless drive, customer-first innovation, and staying true to our mission of solving real-world problems with simple, effective tools.
Being a entrepreneur, what kind of response have you received from your users/consumers? (You can also talk about your recognitions/awards here)
The response from our customers has been nothing short of incredible—and humbling. Line Cutterz has grown because we’ve built more than just a product… we’ve built a movement. Eleven people have actually tattooed the Line Cutterz logo on their bodies. That kind of loyalty doesn’t come from flashy ads—it comes from being real, staying grassroots, and making people feel like they’re part of something bigger.
Our customers appreciate that we’re not just selling tools—we’re giving back. Supporting veterans, breast cancer awareness, and youth fishing has become part of our DNA. We host the West Columbia Kids Fishing Event every year and have partnered with 4ocean and Ecodrive to protect the planet. Every 4ocean Edition Line Cutterz product sold removes one pound of plastic from lakes, rivers, and oceans.
That deep bond with our community has earned us industry recognition, like Best Cutting Tool at ICAST and Best of Show at Confluence, but the real reward is hearing how Line Cutterz has made someone’s time on the water or in the workshop better. Our customers are our tribe, and they’ve been the heart of our success from day one.
In what ways has your life changed since you began your entrepreneurial journey?
My life has completely transformed since starting Line Cutterz. What began as a solo hustle with a dream has grown into a full-scale movement fueled by an incredible community of customers, a passionate team, and my family. One of the most unexpected—and humbling—aspects of this journey has been the weight of responsibility that comes with growth. When you have employees who depend on you, you’re no longer just providing for your spouse and children—you’re showing up for an entire team that believes in your mission. That’s something I never fully anticipated, but I embrace it with everything I’ve got.
I’m proud of how far we’ve come—not just me, but all of us. From my wife who’s been by my side since day one, to the Line Cutterz crew who bring relentless energy to the brand, to the #LineCutterzNation community that has supported us every step of the way. Their belief in what we’re building is what keeps me leveling up.
Along the way, I’ve gained a deep understanding of AI, patents, trademarks, tooling, sourcing, importing/exporting, and platforms like social media and live shopping. But more importantly, I’ve learned that great businesses are built by great people, and I’m lucky to be surrounded by some of the best.
And yes—there are some wild perks. I’ve been invited to speak at national events, go on unbelievable fishing adventures, and even bring to life dreams like building the world’s largest shark fishing truck—a project that gives back to veterans and helps us inspire the next generation. I’m grateful, I’m driven, and I’m just getting started.
