Tell us a little about yourself and what inspired your mission.
I’m a former athlete who understands firsthand the highs of competition and the lows that come after it ends. My dad was a professional athlete too, and after his career, he struggled—mentally, emotionally, and financially. I watched him spiral, and it affected our family deeply. That pain fueled my passion to make sure other athletes don’t face the same challenges.
What gap did you see in the sports world that you wanted to address?
There are trainers to make you faster, stronger. There are managers for your contracts and nutritionists for your health. But when an athlete retires, everything suddenly stops. No one teaches them how to make money again, how to navigate life after the game, or how to deal with their mental health. That’s where I come in.
Tell us about your venture—SPAR Coaching.
We offer life coaching, tailored especially for athletes. Our core focus areas are mental health, financial literacy, and career transitions. We help athletes understand money, discover their purpose, and build careers after sports. We also work with young professionals, ages 20–35, who are struggling to find fulfilling jobs.
Is the coaching model one-on-one or group-based?
Both. We do personalized one-on-one coaching and also large-scale group sessions. Recently, we coached 700 students in a single day and have a major camp coming up with thousands expected to attend.
How do athletes typically find you?
Mostly through word of mouth and social media. I’ve been part of the sports world for years, so a lot of people know me. Our reputation and community have grown organically.
Do you work alone or with a team?
I started as a solopreneur, but now I have a small team. We’re currently hiring and expanding—looking to bring on coaches, marketing support, operational help, and more. Things are growing fast!
What challenges are you facing in your business right now?
I don’t really see them as challenges anymore. I used to struggle with finding clients and learning how to market or sell, but now, the biggest task is scaling up fast and bringing the right people on board to support the mission.
What is your short-term goal for the year?
Hiring the right people. In the next three to four months, I want to build a strong team that’s fully aligned with our values and ready to serve. My focus is to ensure that every athlete or individual we help has a great experience with us.
“I want to make sure no child ever has to watch their parent struggle after sports the way I did. If I can prevent even one person from going through that pain, then I’ve done my job.”
