Tell us about the beginning of your journey. How did the idea behind your movement originate?
The roots of this work go back over 25 years, though the movement itself has been unfolding my entire life. I had a profound spiritual awakening at 19, where my consciousness shifted dramatically. It left me deeply curious about human potential and how we evolve as a species. For years, I worked as a psychotherapist, helping people break through limitations, but I always knew there was more—a quantum, energetic side to our existence. Eventually, I created a space where I could teach people how to shift from the limitations of ego to higher states of awareness. That journey led to the SHB (Stewards of a Higher Bandwidth) Movement, which invites people to expand their consciousness and actively participate in creating a more unified, evolved world.
You mentioned SHB Movement focuses on elevating human consciousness. How has your work evolved over time?
My work started as the Vibrational Health Institute, focusing on how everything is energy and vibration. Over time, I realized people struggled to grasp those concepts, so I rebranded to the Daphne Michaels Institute, making it more accessible. Later, as my work reached international audiences, I transitioned to Daphne Michaels International. The SHB Movement is housed within this, but it’s all been part of the same evolutionary journey—helping people awaken to higher possibilities through understanding their own energetic potential.
How did the global shift, especially during COVID, influence your work?
Before COVID, I primarily taught in-person, running intensive programs for change-makers, organizational leaders, and individuals ready to evolve. When the world moved online, I realized technology could amplify my mission. Suddenly, my message reached more people, crossing borders and cultures. It became clear that this work isn’t limited by geography. Every culture, every person has something valuable to contribute to global consciousness.
What challenges did you face along this journey?
One of the biggest challenges was being taken seriously. As a respected psychotherapist, stepping into the realm of energetics and higher consciousness wasn’t always easy. Some people labeled it “New Age” or dismissed it. I protected my work for a long time because I wanted it to be respected, and fortunately, times have changed. Today, discussions about energy, chakras, and consciousness are mainstream, which is incredible. But another challenge many face, including myself early on, is self-belief—wondering if one person can truly change the world. But the truth is, every entrepreneur, every change-maker impacts those around them, and that ripple effect is powerful.
Your work speaks deeply to human potential. What message would you give to someone on their personal or entrepreneurial journey?
Believe that you are enough, just as you are. You don’t need to have all the answers to start. The doors will open when you walk toward them. We magnetize what we need for the journey—whether it’s resources, support, or opportunities. It all begins with belief and a willingness to evolve beyond limitations.
“Every one of us holds untapped potential. When we awaken to that, we not only transform ourselves—we help change the world.” — Daphne Michaels
