Q&A
Q. How would you describe yourself to our readers?
I am a leadership coach, a mother, and a bicultural Australian-American living as an expat. My professional journey began as a lawyer in Australia, where I worked with low-income women. Over time, I realized that while legal support mattered, real empowerment had to come from within. That insight shaped my path—from law to international human rights in South America, and eventually into leadership and executive coaching in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Q. What led you to focus on leadership coaching?
I became deeply interested in helping people free themselves from internal and external limitations. Leadership, to me, isn’t about position or authority—it’s about alignment. Over the last 20 years, I’ve worked with hundreds of leaders across industries, helping them define success on their own terms by understanding who they are, what they value, and how they want to show up in the world.
Q. Can you tell us about your venture and how your work has evolved?
My work has evolved into what I describe as redefining leadership from the inside out. I believe the most powerful leadership comes from aligning values, vision, and voice—not from being the loudest in the room. I support leaders in developing an authentic leadership style that reflects who they truly are, rather than conforming to traditional or narrow models of leadership.
Q. Who do you typically work with?
I work with leaders across all levels—from first-time managers to CEOs—and across industries. I work with all genders, but I have a particular focus on supporting women and underrepresented leaders who want to grow their influence, confidence, and visibility while staying true to themselves.
Q. What formats do you offer for your work?
I offer one-on-one leadership and executive coaching, as well as group coaching experiences. I also design and deliver leadership programs and trainings, particularly for women in fields that have traditionally been male-dominated, such as tech.
Q. How do people usually find their way to you?
Most people find me through word of mouth and referrals, which I’m incredibly grateful for. Others discover my work through LinkedIn, where I share reflections on leadership, influence, and visibility—always from the lens of leading with impact without losing who you are.
Q. What challenges have you faced while building your practice?
Early on, the biggest challenge was marketing myself in a way that felt authentic. Coming from Australia, where self-promotion isn’t culturally encouraged—especially for women—and being an introvert, this didn’t come naturally. Over time, I learned that visibility doesn’t mean becoming someone else; it means amplifying who you already are and sharing your perspective openly.
Q. What are your short-term professional goals?
I’m focused on continuing to grow my LinkedIn community and expanding my weekly newsletter, Lead Better Weekly, where I share insights from my 20 years of experience. I’m also excited to begin new group coaching journeys—one for senior women leaders and another for women earlier in their leadership paths who want to define their voice and leadership brand.
Q. What message would you like to share with women entrepreneurs and leaders?
What holds women back most often is a lack of belief in themselves—or perfectionism that stops them from even trying. My message is simple: just do it. You already have more than you think you do. Trust yourself and take the step.
“You already have what you need. Believe in yourself and do it.” — Christina Sanders
