That realization led to the creation of Wealth by Taxes, a company designed to help people take control of their finances with smart tax planning. Today, Charles is not only helping clients save money but also innovating with technology and knowledge-sharing tools that can impact countless lives. Q: Charles, how did your journey as an entrepreneur begin?
I left corporate America back in 2015 and started my first firm, Hopkins Tax and Consulting. Initially, we focused on tax preparation, but I noticed a pattern—people didn’t just need help filing taxes, they needed strategies to reduce them. That’s when I founded Wealth by Taxes, built on the idea that you can literally grow wealth by eliminating your tax bill legally if you plan ahead.
Q: Was this always your focus, or did you explore other ventures along the way?
During the pandemic, I actually pivoted into package delivery with Amazon. That company did very well, but many of my larger clients reached out, asking to work with me again. That pulled me back into taxes, but with a shift from preparation to planning. I realized the real value was in strategy, not just paperwork.
Q: Do you work alone, or do you have a team?
I have a team that supports me, especially as we continue to grow and expand our services.
Q: What are your short-term and long-term goals for the business?
Right now, one of our biggest projects is developing an app that uses AI to help people save money on taxes at scale. This will allow us to serve more clients without necessarily expanding the physical team. Long-term, I want to continue innovating in ways that give people the tools to build wealth through smarter financial planning.
Q: Do you have any upcoming launches you’d like to share?
Yes! Alongside the app, I have a book coming out soon called Profit Without Worry. It’s a playbook that teaches people how to legally eliminate their tax bill and maximize results with their current accountant. I’m excited because it puts practical strategies directly into people’s hands.
