Born and raised in England, Christine moved to Germany at 20 to work as a bilingual private secretary. Later, she worked as a technical translator and became a mother of four. Over 25 years ago, she founded her business as an English Confidence Coach, helping German-speaking business owners and executives speak English with clarity and confidence. Alongside, she earned a master’s degree in teaching modern languages to adults to further support her clients.
What sparked your journey as a coach/entrepreneur? Was there a moment, challenge, or person that pushed you to take this path?
After 18 fulfilling years as a stay-at-home mum—filled with various enriching activities—I knew it was time to launch my own business. The spark came when a young man asked for help with his English-learning journey. At that moment, I realised my true calling was to empower German speakers to master English with clarity and confidence. It was a gentle nudge that transformed my passion into a career, blending my love for language with the joy of helping others succeed on a global stage.
Tell us a bit about what you do! What’s the purpose behind your business, and how does it make a difference in people’s lives?
I empower German-speaking business professionals to speak English confidently, opening doors to global opportunities. By tailoring my coaching to each individual, I help break down language barriers that often hold back success. Whether it’s closing an international deal or simply feeling more at ease in a global conversation, my work turns communication challenges into stepping stones for growth. In essence, I’m here to help my clients share their ideas clearly and connect with the world—one conversation at a time.
Thinking back to the start of your career, what were some of the biggest challenges you faced in establishing yourself as a coach/entrepreneur? How did you work through them?
In the early days, I battled imposter syndrome and wasn’t sure if I could truly help others. To build my confidence, I pursued a master’s degree while launching my business. When my husband lost his job and stepped in at home (talk about teamwork!), it opened up more time for me to focus on expanding my skills in networking and marketing. These challenges ultimately became stepping stones on my journey to becoming a confident coach and entrepreneur.
Is there a milestone or achievement you’re really proud of that you’d like to share?
One milestone I’m especially proud of is earning a distinction in my master’s degree while building my business—a challenge that pushed me to grow in both knowledge and confidence. Another defining moment came when I realised that, after several years, I was earning as much as my husband before he left his job. That was a powerful reminder of how far I’d come. And, of course, working with CEOs, CFOs, professors, and entrepreneurs/solopreneurs has been incredibly rewarding—helping top professionals communicate confidently in English is a privilege I never take for granted.
Women are making big moves in workplaces around the world, leading alongside their male counterparts. What are your thoughts on women in leadership today?
Women in leadership are reshaping workplaces in incredible ways. They bring fresh perspectives, empathy, and resilience, making teams more innovative and inclusive. From my own journey balancing multiple roles, I’ve seen how diverse experiences enrich decision-making. While there’s still work to do towards full equality, every achievement by a woman leader is a win for us all. It’s inspiring to witness women leading with both strength and authenticity.
What advice would you give to future women leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs?
Trust yourself and take the leap—perfection isn’t a prerequisite for success. Start before you feel “ready” because confidence comes through action, not waiting. Surround yourself with supportive people who lift you up, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Read widely, stay curious, and be open to new ideas—they often lead to unexpected opportunities. Learn to embrace setbacks as lessons, not failures. Most importantly, own your voice and expertise. The world needs more women leading with authenticity, resilience, and boldness. And remember, you don’t have to do it all—focus on what truly matters to you.
