Antje Bothin: Empowering quiet voices to speak with confidence

Antje Bothin

Antje Bothin’s journey is shaped by her own lived experience — from a childhood marked by communication anxiety to becoming a guide for those who struggle to speak up. Today, she dedicates her work to helping introverts, women entrepreneurs, and quiet leaders find their voice through confident, calm, and respectful assertiveness. Humans of Fuzia is featuring her because her story reflects resilience, empathy, and a deep commitment to helping others rise — values that inspire our 5M+ community working toward a more confident, empowered world for all.

What inspired you to start this journey? Was there a defining moment or challenge?

I got inspired by my lived experience. I struggled with communication and speaking as a child. When I eventually overcame this anxiety, I decided I wanted to help others do the same. That’s how I started my business, Assertive Voices, where I now support people who struggle with confident speaking and assertiveness.

What challenges did you face while establishing yourself, especially with marketing?

I did a lot of networking, both in person and online. I started showing up on different social media platforms and connected with women entrepreneurs who struggled to present themselves — whether in networking events, Zoom meetings, or simply talking about their business. Through our conversations, I realized how common this challenge is. Assertiveness isn’t about being loud; it’s about being confident, setting boundaries, and speaking up respectfully. That’s what I teach through my work.

What milestones are you proud of so far?

I’ve created online and in-person workshops for assertiveness training. I also run a one-to-one six-week coaching program with individualized solutions, and I have an online course that people can take at their own pace. These offerings are all part of helping people build assertive communication skills.

Are you currently a solopreneur?

Yes, it’s just me at the moment.

What are your thoughts on women in leadership today?

It’s an important area to focus on, especially considering how women may have been conditioned in the past to stay quiet or avoid leadership roles. Today, empowering women to show their capabilities confidently is essential. Women make strong, capable leaders, and when they express that confidently in business, they succeed.

Do you have a message for future women leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs?

Go for it. Do what you want, make your dreams come true, and don’t give up when obstacles appear. There will always be challenges — what matters is staying resilient, keeping at it, and finding ways to get things done.

What is your personal definition of success?

Success is achieving what you truly want — being yourself, doing what you enjoy, and realizing that you are able to make it happen.

“Be resilient, keep going, and trust that you can make your goals a reality.”
