Alison Meyer is a visionary entrepreneur transforming the way businesses implement software. With a rich background in nonprofit technology and corporate product leadership, she founded Glossa AI to solve the costly and complex challenges organizations face when switching software systems. Alison’s story is one of courage, innovation, and determination—balancing the demands of entrepreneurship with motherhood, while striving to create meaningful change. Humans of Fuzia is featuring her to inspire our 5 million-strong community, especially women entrepreneurs, to embrace challenges and lead with confidence.
Q: What inspired you to start your own venture, Glossa AI?
Alison Meyer: I’ve spent my career in nonprofit technology and corporate product leadership, seeing firsthand how costly and inefficient switching software can be. In nonprofits, adoption was slow due to switching costs, and in the corporate world, these challenges were magnified. I realized this problem needed solving. On a personal note, having a six-month-old daughter also motivated me—I wanted to set an example of a woman building something meaningful from scratch.
Q: Who is your target audience for Glossa AI?
Alison Meyer: We primarily sell to implementation consultants—people who help organizations transition from one software to another. These consultants act as intermediaries, understanding business processes and ensuring that systems are implemented efficiently. Glossa makes the discovery phase of these projects up to 70% faster, which has been incredibly well received.
Q: Have you experienced self-doubt or imposter syndrome during this journey?
Alison Meyer: Absolutely. Quitting a dream job, starting an untested business, and being the primary breadwinner while raising a baby comes with doubts. Early on, I reached out to smart people I trust to talk me out of it. Instead, they became my beta testers, which gave me confidence. Feedback—both positive and constructive—has been essential to keeping me grounded and motivated.
Q: Knowing what you know now, what would you do differently when starting out?
Alison Meyer: The hard part of starting a business isn’t hard work itself; it’s prioritization. There’s always a million things to do, and your decisions directly impact the success of your venture. Learning to pick what matters most and iterate quickly has been a critical lesson for me.
Q: How do you define success personally and professionally?
Alison Meyer: Professionally, I hope Glossa becomes the default tool for system implementers—used as naturally as Jira or Slack. Personally, I want my daughter to grow up seeing her mom build a successful business from scratch.
Q: What legacy do you hope to leave through your work?
Alison Meyer: I want to make B2B software better. Currently, it’s often difficult and expensive to use, with customers locked in once they adopt a system. My hope is to simplify switching software, making it as easy as changing apps on your phone—so that businesses can thrive, and the industry becomes more user-friendly.
Q: What challenges have you encountered so far?
Alison Meyer: Marketing and sales are new territories for me. With so much content online, reaching the right audience is challenging. I’m learning quickly and leveraging my network, but it’s an ongoing process.
Q: Any exciting updates or features coming up for Glossa AI?
Alison Meyer: Recently, we launched features like the Contradiction Checker, Citations, AI Review, and JIRA integration—all aimed at streamlining discovery and implementation processes. These improvements help our clients save time, reduce errors, and ensure alignment across stakeholders.
“Feedback is a gift. Listening to it, learning from it, and iterating quickly has been the key to growing Glossa. If you believe in what you’re doing and are willing to adapt, the possibilities are endless.” – Alison Meyer
