What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before the venture/ corporate journey?
Before Pure Joy, I worked as an Assistant Principal at the largest high school in the state. I was a single mom of a young child and worked long, hectic hours. I was always tired, always over-committed, and often running on fumes.
Every industry that is now a large-scale, top-notch business once started as a small idea in the minds of entrepreneurs. What was that idea or motivation that made you start your business/initiative? What motivated you within to say “YES, go for it!”
This career change was truly a calling – in fact, I resisted it for quite a while. I started coaching in 2019, but shortly after got stage 3 cancer. It was after finishing cancer treatments that I realized I was called to do this full-time. It was a huge step of faith, but everything in me knew it was the right next step. I am so thankful I did!
Tell us something about your initiative or current role. What is it about, and what impact are you trying to make?
I love being a Life Balance Strategist. It’s my job to help people who are overwhelmed, exhausted, and wanting a more balanced life to find a way to make it happen. Everyone is different, our needs are unique, and my role is to strategize a way to find balance for every client, based on their distinct needs.
Your journey and your vision are very inspiring, but are there any achievements or accomplishments you would like to mention?
I am most proud of my program, Joy Journeys. They are one of a kind coaching experiences that allow clients to travel one on one with me and enjoy an incredible trip. It’s a perfect way to get exclusive access to a coach, while enjoying the benefits of stepping away on vacation – all at the same time.
Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity?
I would love to see women stop striving and start flowing. We can work hard, but don’t have to prove our worth through it. We are worthy as we are, now, with all of our flaws. We can be accomplished and still grow at the same time.
Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. There are cracks in glass ceilings everywhere, with many women breaking through to carve out a space right at the top of the pyramid. What are your thoughts about women’s leadership today?
Women are incredible leaders – powerful, insightful, and able to see the whole picture in a unique way. I’m looking forward to watching women continue to rise in positions of influence and expand our growth through their special gifts and talents.
What would you want to say to our young women leaders/audience reading this?
You are worthy. Right now, as is, you are worthy. Knowing your worth and what you bring to the table will be one of the biggest factors in your long term success. Additionally, don’t do this alone. Even if you’re the only one in your position, find your team. Find the women who are your safe zone – you can be honest about the good, bad, and the ugly of the process. Women who will encourage you on the hard days, lift you up on the good days, and keep your success as important as their own.
