Meet DeAna Vitela-Hayashi, the CEO of AquaBio Environmental Technologies, Inc., an organization that “helps nature heal itself.”
Holding degrees in Biology and Management from California State University of Northridge, Pierce College, and EPA Watershed Academy, DeAna Vitela-Hayashi has been an inventor and pioneer in her field since 1987. She has been working on sustainable technologies to reduce the harmful effects of environmental pollutants, including harmful algal blooms and cyanobacteria. She does this primarily through her research, development, and application of beneficial microbial products (using non-pathogenic micro-organisms). Ms. Vitela specializes in Bioremediation, Mycoremediation, Phyotoremediation, and Biomimicry to remediate water and soil.
Over the years, Ms. Vitela has consulted for several environmental, engineering, and remediation firms, stormwater retention basins, lakes, and aquaculture facilities, in both fresh and marine environments as well as municipal and industrial facilities, city and state parks, waste treatment facilities, confined animal feed operations, agriculture, landfill, and compost facilities. She has also been a vital part of the City, State, and Federal Task Forces that focus on water reclamation and treatment of water impoundments, wastewater lagoons, and effluents from urban runoff and waste treatment facilities.
As CEO of AquaBio Environmental Technologies, Inc. and AquaBio Habitat Restoration and Watershed Management Division, Ms. Vitela and her team have continued the process of cleaning up and managing California lakes and reservoirs, and thus, helping them heal from the harmful activities of humans and their industries. Ms. Vitela doesn’t just help preserve the ecosystem, but she also helps her clients understand the process and its importance through her vast reserve of knowledge and excellent communication skills. By providing sustainable and creative solutions to the complex needs of her clients, she and her team have built a reputation for integrity and success.
