Anita Govender

Anita Govender tells us that, “As a Transformational Coach I have spent over 12 years dedicated to providing emotional healing to individuals in need. My mission is simple yet powerful: to effectively and efficiently facilitate healing from the pain, shame, guilt, resentment and regret that keep one stuck in a world of hurt. My intention is to create an end result that promotes inner peace, self acceptance and freedom. With the correct techniques this is readily achieved eliminating the need for coping mechanisms and will power to get through difficult situations. When true healing takes place, it organically promotes a healthy self-esteem without effort.”

What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before starting your Entrepreneur journey/venture/initiative.

I grew up in apartheid South Africa where segregation was the norm. We could only interact with people of the same race and that meant not having friends that look different from you. Fortunately my parents raised me to be accepting of all people no matter their skin colour. This is the reason why diversity, inclusion and cultural sensitivity matter so much to me.

Every industry that is now a large-scale, top-notch business once started as a small idea in the minds of entrepreneurs. What was that idea or motivation that made you start your business /initiative? What motivated you within to say YES, go for it!”

When I discovered that I had a gift for healing, I also discovered my purpose in life. I always knew that I wanted to help people ever since I was very young, but I never knew what that looked like. The “how” of it was ever elusive. Having since figured out my unique way, I see the potential and impact this work has on those who have experienced it and that is why it has become the driving force in my life today.

Tell us something about your initiative or current role. What is it about, and what impact are you trying to make?

As a Transformational Coach, I believe that healing doesn’t have to be a long, drawn out process and that was my motivation for creating a 4 week program that gets results from the very first session! My goal is to have my clients heal from their past quickly and effectively so that they can get on with their lives and look to building their future from a place of empowerment, confidence and self worth.

Your journey and your vision are very inspiring, but are there any achievements or accomplishments you would like to mention?

The biggest accomplishment for me is also the one that means the most and that is my clients consistently describing their experience with me as life changing. That, more than anything fuels the fire of my desire to create an impact.

Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity?

Having grown up in a patriarchal society, I’d love to see women having the freedom to be their unapologetic, authentic selves where they don’t have to earn it, fight for it or strive for it – they can simply be it! Furthermore, I would encourage the support of men who embrace this idea of freedom for all.

Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. What are your thoughts about women leadership today?

When women lead as women, and not men, they naturally infuse caring, compassion and heart that has been missing for so long in leadership. Fostering a culture of cooperation instead of competition is vitally needed for us to excel and thrive as a species because the old ways of doing things are simply no longer sustainable for the planet or its multitude of inhabitants.

What would you want to say to our young leaders/audience reading this?

Healing ourselves is no longer a luxury or for the select few – it is imperative! It is the key to being better humans. When we can fully love and accept ourselves, we naturally love and accept others and compassion is a natural byproduct. Then, and only then can we make choices and implement practices/systems that will serve the whole and not just the few.
