Lyndsey Austin
Lyndsey Austin tells us that, “For the last 4 years I have run a successful life coach and fitness transformation business in the UK, which specialises in helping clients realise their full potential both professionally and Personally. A career which gives immense satisfaction and personal joy. I started my own transformation journey 6 years ago , when I studied NLP and CBT. After being in the fitness industry for 18 years I knew there was more to use as people and I wanted to learn how the mind and body connected and have never looked back. Most importantly I am a proud mother of three children and 5 amazing grandchildren.”
What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before starting your corporate journey/venture/initiative.
My childhood was far from ideal. I grew up in a a broken home filled with trauma and tragedy. Not knowing what love was ,seeing my father abuse my mother on a daily basis would make me fearful of what the day would bring ahead , this would make me feel very nervous and full of panic, living life on the edge at such a young age I created habits of Blinking in the eyes , bed wetting all which my father would then beat me for it, My mother manage to escape from my father but she had to leave me and my sister as she had no where to take us , she fled in the night, I remember in the morning as my father where she was , she’s gone and left you was his answer ,the feeling of a abandonment was horrendous , I felt empty my mother had gone but not by choice . The empty feeling started I had my first cigarette at the age of 6 , hanging around with children that were older than me, I would go of for miles with them running over train tracks staying out for hours so I didn’t have to go home and face my farther and then his new girlfriend , lie was the same for years I would get hit regular for all my habits , my mother fought, for custody for me for years and finally at the age of 10 I went to live with her , they were the best years of my childhood , but when I look back the damage had already been done . I found myself drawn to a relationship filled with violence and abuse. I thought that was love , he then became my children’s father. It was just learned behaviour, regular beatings , having my nose broken , arm and ribs fractured , the beatings were on a day to day basis, I had no self worth, I still didn’t know how to love myself. In my mid 20s I had to make a decision , to keep allowing myself to be treated in this way, or make a positive change, and work to a brighter healthier future…. I embarked on my fitness journey, and choose life.
Every industry that is now a large-scale, top-notch business once started as a small idea in the minds of entrepreneurs. What was that idea or motivation that made you start your business /initiative? What motivated you within to say YES, go for it!”
Coming from the depths of darkness, at the age of 25 I had to make the choice. I enrolled in a sociology course at a local college , where I learned insight about society and built a better Circle of friends , making the conscious decision to work on myself . joining the gym at the college helped me thrive in my confidence fitness and mindset then became my passion the transformation in myself was astounding , I was filling my cup for the first time in my life with self worth and love for myself , I was filled with a newborn passion and drive for me I wanted to help people who also are struggling with confidence issues. I thrived on the positive energy I received from my clients, it fuels my passion to help more and more to become the best version of themselves and thrive in confidence. I put in the work, got my accreditations and Lyndsey Austin Transformations was born!
Tell us something about your initiative or current role. What is it about, and what impact are you trying to make?
I truly believe that anyone can break their psychological barriers that hold them back in their life , everything starts with the awareness of wanting change, then comes taking the action steps for growth , peeling back the layers of our past traumas and overcoming adversity. What I know for sure is there is not one thing that has happened to you that you can not heal from. Trauma is trauma on any level , it’s what has happened to you , not what is happening to you now in this moment . Its being vulnerable, opening up to your emotions , talking your story through and doing this you will heal and grow. I tailor my sessions bespoke for my clients needs , giving them the tools that they need to to feel and live the inspiring , joyful life they deserve! For me my WHY is if I can be a fully confident person in my life through the traumas I have left in the past ?? there is no reason that you can not be! I am living proof ! The answer is You Believe and leave it!!
Your journey and your vision are very inspiring, but are there any achievements or accomplishments you would like to mention?
As I said in my intro , my greatest achievement in life is being a mother to my three wonderful well -grounded children, and a grandmother of 5 grandchildren. With my learning in my life , knowing what I know now on my healing journey I have broken the chain of past pain that I learnt from my parents , and their parents before , it’s about forgiving and letting go . Professionally , I’m so pleased to have accomplished many of my goals, becoming a Personal Trainer, a certified life Coach , self publishing my first book- ‘flight of a butterfly’ , which is my story of how I overcame traumas and adversity and reached empowerment . My book has 5 stars and is an Amazon best seller in nine categories.
Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity?
I would like to see women being successful, being independent , helping their sisters thrive , and being altruistic. Influencing male leaders and becoming top tier leaders themselves.
Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. There are cracks in glass ceilings everywhere, with many women breaking through to carve out a space right at the top of the pyramid. What are your thoughts about women leadership today?
Throughout history women have been denied the opportunities that men have in all aspects of life. It’s fantastic that in the last twenty or so years women have been able to break through these barriers and thrive in business. There is still work to be done for women to reach parity with their male counterparts . We will only achieve this outcome if all female business and thought leaders are on the same page, for womanhood.
What would you want to say to our young women leaders/audience reading this?
My motto in life is to believe and achieve because firstly whether you think you can or you cant you are usually right!! So you must have a can-do mindset and attitude and try to ignore the neigh -sayers coupled with hard work , determination , drive and conviction. You will achieve and be successful , you must keep pushing forward. Your journey will consist of peaks and troughs, embrace both and one doesn’t come without the other . Ultimately you will get where you need to go, with drive and passion and remember to keep chipping away as there is light at the end of the tunnel.
