What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before starting your professional journey/venture/initiative and what inspired you to choose this career.
I had a healthy childhood with two loving parents. The difficulties and challenges I faced were because I was a first generation American, being raised by Indian parents. I struggled with carrying my own belief system, when that was not often shared with my family. This inevitably made me a very independent woman.
I was very intrigued by health, and pursued an education in pre medicine. I changed my path from medicine, but remained passionate about physical and mental well-being. I then pursued personal training and life coaching to help others live optimally.
Was there any turning point in your life that changed your journey? If so, what was it? Please tell us the backstory behind it.
After getting a divorce, I temporarily quit my business to pursue a medical sales position. This job did not last but shy of a year as it ended with my suffering, a traumatic brain injury (TBI). After spending a year recovering from an almost life ending injury, I pursued my business of helping others through my coaching again. It became more clear than ever that I needed to remain steadfast with my passion of helping others.
Tell us about your goals, interests, and role models.
I aspire to broaden my reach to help more women and moms take care of themselves by finding a balance with the needs of others and their own.
I love to travel, see and experience new places, and people. I enjoy being physically active along with doing things that bring me peace of mind, in our very hectic lives.
Everyone has their own set of challenges when starting an entrepreneurial journey. Still, the most essential part for others to learn is how you deal with those. Would you like to share with us your challenges and your coping mechanisms?
My biggest challenge has been to keep a growing stream of business/clients coming my way. I cope by continually finding new people to connect with and putting in the continuous work through different avenues to get noticed.
What impact do you feel you have been able to create with your work so far and how would you want to grow in the next few years?
I feel I have been an inspiration to other women/moms and provide the motivation that is often needed to get one out of their unhealthy cycles. I would like to work with organizations of women in the future to help on a broader scale.
While the global pandemic of COVID-19 is associated primarily with adversities, it has also brought about a true boom in startups, with successful entrepreneurship in many countries. The pandemic has impacted all of us in one way or another. Would you like to share your experience on a personal and professional level?
The pandemic did not affect me greatly as I was already working with private clients and online. I was fortunate enough to continue this work.
Your journey and your vision are very inspiring, but are there any achievements or accomplishments you would like to mention?
I am an author of my weight-loss book, “Get Real about Weightloss”
Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity?
Team up with other like-minded women, and be a bigger force to thrive individually and as a group.
What’s the most important thing you have learned in your personal life and professional journey? What is your personal motto in life?
Personally, I have learned, though I like to plan for the future, the unexpected is undoubtedly going to transpire. You have to become flexible to handle the changes that will come.
Professionally, my journey has taught me to never quit. Always continue to put forth the effort when you are passionate about what you do.
My personal motto that keeps me going is, the best days are yet to come!
Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. There are cracks in glass ceilings everywhere, with many women breaking through to carve out a space right at the top of the pyramid. What are your thoughts about women’s leadership today?
There is nothing women can’t do that their male counterparts are doing. The only limiting factor is our own belief system, which should not hold us back.
With your grit and determination, you are making a considerable impact, breaking through, and serving as role models for many budding entrepreneurs. What would you want to say to our young women leaders/audience reading this?
Take the time to know what you want and what is worth the time and energy for you to pursue. Having this conviction in your heart will carry you through the obstacles and tough times.
