Breaking Barriers in Alternative Medicine: Shaniece West’s Mission to Empower Australians through Canna Fans

Shaniece West

Shaniece West is the director of Canna Fans based in Victoria, Australia.

She tells us that, “Our mission is to be able to provide every Australian with easy & affordable access to alternative medicine & to educate people. I’m extremely happy to be able to do this interview.

Before you became the business titan you are today, enlighten us about the thrilling adventures of your pre-business life.

Growing up I had a turbulent start, never experiencing a healthy family dynamic or a “family” home.. I’ve had to learn most things the hard way but I’m grateful for every lesson as it means I’m growing as a person. I have spent the last 10 years doing various courses, to expand my knowledge.

Could you elaborate on the nature of your initiative/ business/current role, highlighting its purpose and the ways it benefits people?

CANNA FANS is more than just a medicinal cannabis brand, where a safe space for all in the cannabis community, behind the scenes we are working on a HUGE project with our website which will be the epicentre of information & education. Our purpose is to provide all Australians with a quality alternative medicine that focuses on being able to provide our patients with Quality of Life.

What has been the response of the users/consumers towards your venture?

We have had amazing support around us, there have been a few people not understanding what we do but after explaining we are normally met with praise.

Having a strong support system is essential for your well-being. We would love to know who your biggest supporter is. Share with us and let’s celebrate the amazing people in our lives who make a positive impact.

My biggest support would have to be my husband, no matter what the venture is he always supports me 110%.

As a woman entrepreneur, what changes do you hope to see in the world and what opportunities are you seeking?

I’m hoping to see more women join the industry as it is very male dominant especially in Australia (re: cannabis).

I’m hoping to see more access to education, due to the cost of living its very hard to actually go to university unless you have family support.. but I also want women to know .. even without education you can still become very successful.

Women now stand shoulder-to-shoulder with men in the workplace, breaking through glass ceilings to reach the top. What are your thoughts on women’s leadership today?

I’m all for it, I think it’s amazing.
