What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before the venture/ corporate journey?

I grew up in a single mother household with 3 older siblings. I had a very strict upbringing but we still had lots of fun. We were all brought up with old fashioned values like children should be seen and not heard.

Every industry that is now a large-scale, top-notch business once started as a small idea in the minds of entrepreneurs. What was that idea or motivation that made you start your business/initiative? What motivated you within to say “YES, go for it!”

At the beginning of lockdown, I was able to witness parents struggling with their children and their stress levels rising. I realised quite quickly that these parents could do with some guidance and support. Although I work with families on a daily basis through my childcare business and I support and coach my parents, I wanted to reach out to the wider communities who did not have access to me. This was my “YES, go for it” moment. So I got myself qualified and started my journey as a Parental Coach. Alongside this, I then decided to start Podcasting. This enabled me to help parents who perhaps could not afford my coaching services. They can still benefit from my experience, my expertise, my knowledge and can resonate with the guests who come on the show.

Tell us something about your initiative or current role. What is it about, and what impact are you trying to make?

My current role as a Parental Coach is to help parents pursue their goals in building a stronger relationship with their children. This means for parents to spend not only quality time but quantity of time with their children. It also means connecting as a family in a variety of ways. It also means less shouting , yelling and for parents to listen to their children a lot more. Treating them as intelligent human beings. The impact is for children to grow up resilient, resourceful, open-minded, independent and know that they can go to their parents to talk about anything without there being harsh consequences such as physical punishment or yelling. This is definitely what I would like to achieve in the minority community.

Your journey and your vision are very inspiring, but are there any achievements or accomplishments you would like to mention?

Using my experience and expertise, I have managed to change the lives of families in a positive way. My testimonials are proof of this. These are my biggest accomplishments. Running a successful Childcare business that has been going for four years and receiving an OUTSTANDING inspection.

Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity?

I would like to see parents connecting with their children and making an impact. Being positive role models for their children. With the economy we are living in at the moment, I would like to see more free school meals for all children to ensure they are all getting a hot meal, More youth centers open for teenagers to socialize. I would like to see less crime and more harmony. I would like to see less screen time and more family time.

Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. There are cracks in glass ceilings everywhere, with many women breaking through to carve out a space right at the top of the pyramid. What are your thoughts about women’s leadership today?

Women are coming through those cracks thick and fast. We are having to pave the way for other women entrepreneurs. We need to make sure that we are being paid the same as our equal parts as this has always been a problem. Women are now getting noticed. We are seeing more women entrepreneurs globally on National TV and not just as housewives or sex symbols. Professional women are making a stand and leading with their chest up high.

What would you want to say to our young women leaders/audience reading this?

Make a road map, set goals, set standards, have a plan and be consistent. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there as people, by people. Fight for what you want. Keep moving forwards. When things feel low, it’s just temporary. Look after your mental health so take deep breaths, exercise regularly, take relaxation classes.
