What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before starting your corporate journey/venture/initiative.
I grew up in Amsterdam in a pretty safe neighborhood with many families with children my age, so always enough friends to hang out with and enough things to do. When I was 12 my parents divorced so I had a bit of a rebellious phase. When I was 17 I left school and started working. I worked in many different positions and companies until I decided I wanted to do something more challenging and to be able to do that I needed to start developing myself. So I started studying again next to my work. When I ended up working for a chief in the Amsterdam Police organization I decided that I wanted to do what he was doing so I did the Police Academy for tactical management. After finishing that I realized that I would always be in a position where others were going to decide and often I did not agree with the decisions. So I took a 6 month unpaid leave and went traveling on my own. I had finished a relationship and just started a new one, which we decided to put on hold. During my travels it turned out that the new relationship was what I needed so she came and joined me for the last month of traveling, where we discovered Brazil together and made the decision to move to Spain, to see what living abroad would be like. That was more than 20 years ago now. We moved without having much belongings or savings and had to work hard to create a life for ourselves. Which we did, by working two jobs at a time and finally creating our own real estate agency, which is a great success and is still functioning really well. Life happened and I lost too many significant people in a short time, so I burned-out and started my inner journey of changing my limited beliefs and unhelpful patterns and really became conscious again of who I really am and what drives me in life. And realized I was not meant to be an estate agent and also not meant to be working in one company with my life partner. When COVID hit the world I decided to step out of the business and do something completely different. I discovered the world of network marketing and found that there is so much support, love, and growth in this business model that I decided to jump in.
Tell us something about your initiative/business. What is it about and how is it helpful for people?
I work with the products, support and infrastructure of a great German company in the health, fitness and beauty industry and am part of an international team of very motivated women that are passionate about living life to the max and doing that by helping others become healthier, and coaching others to do the same.
While the global pandemic of COVID-19 is associated primarily with adversities, it has also brought about a true boom in startups, with successful entrepreneurship in many countries. The pandemic has impacted all of us in one way or another. Would you like to share your experience on a personal and professional level?
Yes for me Covid was a chance to stop and really decide what was best for me and I am convinced I would never have discovered the opportunity without this.
What has been the response of the users/consumers towards your venture?
Network marketing is still looked at negatively by many people and that is sometimes hard, as most of the judgement is based on misconceptions and prejudice. To be honest, that was my first reaction too. But I have looked further than my own prejudice and found this amazing world where everybody, regardless of age, race, background, education can succeed.
How has your life changed because of your initiative/venture?
My life has become completely different. The products I work with have changed my life and enable me to improve that of so many others, I am so grateful to be able to do that!
Do you have anyone who is the biggest support system in your life? Please let us know.
My wife is my rock, she has been by my side for 21 years and supports me in every step I take. Also I have a great supportive team and some really really good friends. Unfortunately, my parents and sister are no longer with us, but in spirit I feel they support me too.
Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity? OR Share a motivational message for the audience/women who are reading this.
Never forget that you have all you need to succeed in life within you, and you are unique! So make sure to stay close to your authentic self, be conscious of the limiting beliefs that are withholding you from becoming your best self.
