If your business could have a mascot, what would it be and why?

A French Bulldog. Because that’s basically what I am.

What strategies do you employ to maintain a healthy work-life balance while running your own business?

I don’t believe in ‘work-life balance’ because it’s not like work is sitting on one side of a scale and life sits on the other. Work is part of life, not separate from it. So I make sure my priorities are fulfilled first, before less important matters, as much as possible.

When faced with unexpected detours on your business path, how do you pivot with grace and resilience, showing fellow women entrepreneurs the way forward?

I don’t pretend to have it all together when I don’t. I’m transparent and reach out for support. I also don’t blame others or myself; I try to look at the evidence objectively and make choices in response to that. It can be hard to let go of a way of doing things that used to work but stops working. To do that you need a new direction to move in, one that is informed by reality.

How do you measure the success of your business beyond financial metrics, such as customer satisfaction or community engagement?

Referrals, repeat business and great reviews are three positive indicators I frequently enjoy. Also, if I’m engaged creatively with my marketing and have fun creating content, I know my time is being spent in a worthwhile way.

Can you share a memorable moment where you witnessed significant growth or transformation in your business, illustrating the impact of your services/products?

When a publisher greenlit the book I wrote detailing my coaching methodology. The book is called The Five Emotions That Stop Success in Coaches, Clients and Creatives.

What role do you believe mentorship plays in the success of small businesses, and how have mentors influenced your own entrepreneurial journey?

I wouldn’t have taken my business from 19K to 93K if I hadn’t plunked down 9K to hire a business coach back in 2016. It was terrifying but I recognized it as necessary. I had vetted her carefully, of course. I am not an emotional buyer.

What’s your work all about, and how does it make a difference in the world?

I help creative people finish what they start rather than abandon their inspirations for lack of guidance and support, or because of negative self-talk. We need innovative, creative people more than ever right now.
