What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before starting your corporate journey/venture/initiative.
I grew up in Vermont, where I climbed mountains and discovered my personal strength at a very young age. My upbringing was shaped by an attitude and value system focused on service and shared responsibility for making the world a more meaningful place for all. My parents instilled in us the importance of lifting up others every day.
Every industry that is now a large-scale, top-notch business once started as a small idea in the minds of entrepreneurs. What was that idea or motivation that made you start your business /initiative? What motivated you within to say YES, go for it!”
My absolute yes came when I met a young teen named Jason, who was dying of cancer. His motto, borrowed from Churchill, was “Never, never, never give up!” This phrase has been my guiding light throughout my life. “What can I do?” or “What can WE do?” are words I state daily!
Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity?
Women are poised to move the world forward with compassionate change efforts now more than ever! Feminine power is desperately needed to bring balance back to businesses and organizations that have traditionally been led with a top-down, hierarchical model, which has historically prevented women from bringing their voice and value. I encourage all women to lift each other up in leadership positions to bring essential change to our world.
Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. There are cracks in glass ceilings everywhere, with many women breaking through to carve out a space right at the top of the pyramid. What are your thoughts about women leadership today?
Women, including myself, have held back their personal power, afraid to voice authentic and valid opinions. Women leaders now have opportunities to walk boldly into every situation, focusing on compassionate change that unifies. It’s time for women to bring their commitment to themselves and others to every leadership opportunity.
What’s the most important thing you have learned in your personal life and professional journey? What is your personal motto in life?
The purpose of life is to make a difference!
With your grit and determination, you are making a considerable impact, breaking through, and serving as role models for many budding entrepreneurs. What would you want to say to our young women leaders/audience reading this?
Your passion, your “why,” your purpose is your greatest asset. Wake up every day determined to make a difference, regardless of how seemingly small, and your life will be fulfilling and filled with meaningful moments.
