Alice Mansaud
Alice Mansaud tells us that, “I am a French language coach and a podcaster, living in Valencia, Spain. I coach non-French speakers to help them be (come) themselves in French, express who they are and do what they want even if it’s not their mother tongue. My podcast “Moi-même en français” aims the same: through interviews of experts (in language, expatriation, learning…) and non-French speakers sharing their own journey in French, listeners can reflect on their journey in learning French and find their own way of being oneself in French.”
Before you became the business titan you are today, enlighten us about the thrilling adventures of your pre-business life.
I studied in a Business School in Paris, France and first worked as a consultant for the Public Sector in France. I would never have thought of myself as an entrepreneur before, but when I reinvented myself after 5 years in Consulting, and a new diploma to teach French to foreigners (Alliance Française), I found out that I really needed to try things in my own way. I lived in Lyon, Nantes and Toulouse in France, and decided to expatriate and settle in Valencia with Valencian partner.
Could you elaborate on the nature of your initiative/ business/current role, highlighting its purpose and the ways it benefits people?
I mainly coach people who live in France or have a plan to expatriate there. I help them to learn the French they’ll need to feel themselves and pursue their own personal and/or professional goals. Starting from who they are and what they want, fostering motivation is my way of ensuring they’ll learn efficiently and durably. My podcast helps them reflect on their own so they find their own answers to live the life they want in French.
What has been the response of the users/consumers towards your venture?
I have super good feedback from coaches (see LinkedIn recommendations) who feel I accompanied them towards their goals, being by their side step-by-step. My podcast’s listeners tell me it provides interesting and valuable insights. People are very much interested in my newsletter “La Lettre du Moi(s)”, asking for the previous ones 😉 It helps them reflect on the way they want to learn and live in French.
Having a strong support system is essential for your well-being. We would love to know who your biggest supporter is. Share with us and let’s celebrate the amazing people in our lives who make a positive impact.
My partner is undoubtedly my strongest support in my day-to-day life as an entrepreneur. My best friend who is also an entrepreneur is very inspiring to me and I can discuss my difficulties with her too. My sister is my unfailing support as I know I’ll always be able to count on her.
I also benefit a lot from fellow entrepreneurs-coaches in French (Neurolanguage coaches mostly), and in general from other coaches (intercultural or life coaches). In general, being a female entrepreneur is a great way to connect and share with other wonderful women.
As a young woman entrepreneur, what changes do you hope to see in the world and what opportunities are you seeking?
I’d like to see women more free from society’s injunctions on how to be a “good woman”/”good wife”/”good mother”. I’d like them to choose their way of life freely.
Women now stand shoulder-to-shoulder with men in the workplace, breaking through glass ceilings to reach the top. What are your thoughts on women’s leadership today?
They still strive to get there and have more doubts and obstacles (inner ones AND from society) than men.
