What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before starting your corporate journey/venture/initiative.
I was a shy and artistic child. Most of my leisure time was spent reading books and enjoying nature. My parents raised me to prioritize education, serve others and put my faith first.
Every industry that is now a large-scale, top-notch business once started as a small idea in the minds of entrepreneurs. What was that idea or motivation that made you start your business /initiative? What motivated you within to say YES, go for it!”
I primarily worked in higher education and as an executive recruiter. The latter stint led me to become a volunteer career coach for several years. Given the successes I had and recognition that came from it, a friend suggested charging for my career services. Plus, leaving a toxic job after a hospitalization inspired me to move forward.
Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity?
I would like for women entrepreneurs dedicated to service like myself to know they are worthy of being served. As we hold space for our clients and others, let’s also hold space for ourselves and value our self-care. My lack of self-care led to a stress-related hospitalization.
Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. There are cracks in glass ceilings everywhere, with many women breaking through to carve out a space right at the top of the pyramid. What are your thoughts about women leadership today?
We have come so far as women leaders but more work needs to be done. We must strive not just for equality but equity when it comes to what exceptional women’s leadership means today. We must also understand feminine leadership and embody it fully.
What’s the most important thing you have learned in your personal life and professional journey? What is your personal motto in life?
The most important thing I have learned in my personal life and professional life is to have an abundance mindset. As a woman of faith, I know that God provides when we show gratitude, give cheerfully and have great expectations.
With your grit and determination, you are making a considerable impact, breaking through, and serving as role models for many budding entrepreneurs. What would you want to say to our young women leaders/audience reading this?
You have more power than you know with your thoughts, emotions, beliefs, decisions, actions and outcomes. Your growth mindset is the starting point for making a difference in your life and the lives of others. Your feminine power is an untapped resource that gets results.
