Victoria Cumberbatch

Victoria Cumberbatch is a Millennial, Jersey bred entrepreneur focusing on dynamic facilitation, community development, and leadership coaching.

What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before starting your corporate journey/venture/initiative.

I grew up as an only child to a teacher and policeman in New Jersey, USA. My mom is of Irish lineage and dad is of Bajan lineage, so growing up biracial and discerning my identity for myself was [and remains] a major tenet of my life [https://www.adventuresofcommunity.com/post/accepting-my-identity]. We traveled super often, typically twice a year outside of the country to places like Turkey, Czech Republic, or a Baltic Cruise. The travel bug bit me as early as 4 months old and I have been traveling ever since; immersing myself in 65+ cultures and nations. Being culturally aware and seen as a global citizen is a high honor for me. As I aged, I ended up as captain of several sports in high school [track & volleyball] and led many groups, like being president of the student council. I ended up going to the Uni of Maryland for a BA in international development and conflict management.

Every industry that is now a large-scale, top-notch business once started as a small idea in the minds of entrepreneurs. What was that idea or motivation that made you start your business /initiative? What motivated you within to say YES, go for it!”

After I had a coach / mentor for my role, I later thought … ‘Why can’t I do this?’ I noodled over it for some time before I just decided to jump. Which isn’t unusual for me, my issues tend to be around diving into the deep end first as opposed to walking in on the stairs while holding on to the railing → I could do with some slowing down and having a steadier pace 🙂

Tell us something about your initiative or current role. What is it about, and what impact are you trying to make?

My vision for my life is to live in authentic connection, harmony, and joyous collaboration by having a life first business, being the type of person I want to see [conscious leader], and immersing myself in global travel. My mission is to catalyze connection through community + collaboration + contribution whilst providing healing spaces of generational trauma [particularly sexual, reproductive, & feminine]. So, the impact I’m aiming for is bringing back the idea of being in unity, sharing spaces, honoring thyself, and knowing that all this inevitably begins to heal the self. Any intentional healing that’s endeavored upon, can touch seven generations in each direction [forward and backward]. To me, that is of utmost vitality.

Your journey and your vision are very inspiring, but are there any achievements or accomplishments you would like to mention?

Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity?

Yes → The change I’d like to see in the world is that of the softened, healed, expansive feminine that upholds the world with ease, support, integrity and honor.

Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. There are cracks in glass ceilings everywhere, with many women breaking through to carve out a space right at the top of the pyramid. What are your thoughts about women leadership today?

As a millennial, my mothers’ generation wanted to be the CEO’s, match male counterparts salaries, and take one month maternity leave. That is not the view of female leadership that I hold. In my opinion, there is space for masculine and feminine leadership. Where feminine leadership is honored for: our communication capacity, our ability to hold space for our direct reports and their progress, our creative view of how systems & processes can be adjusted, our support and contribution to nearly every facet of every business everywhere, our emotional intelligence, our capacity to attract or magnetize as opposed to force or push, and so on. When women begin to recognize that we run on different internal schedules [infradian vs circadian] and that soft skills are just as vital for business everywhere → then maybe we will begin to see the true divine woman in leadership rise.
