Jill Davis
Jill Davis tells us that, “I am an innovative Trail Blazing thought leader, a modern day Susan B. Anthony coaching and consulting other high performance individuals into accelerating their success to new heights. I fight the hard battles that have paved the way for others to be able to have an easier path to take. I have always stood up for what’s right even when it has been very difficult and challenging. I stand up for women and love to inspire young people to remind them that anything is possible and that we live in a global environment filled with opportunities to reach people from all over the world. I teach people to not accept no for an answer, design your own future, and never give up!”
What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before starting your corporate journey/venture/initiative.
I grew up being taught how to handle a large amount of responsibility at a very young age which gave me the drive to start building and operating my own lodge in Alaska in my 20’s. Because I have a passion for learning and doing, I learned every faucet of my Corporation and took on the roles within my company including but not limited to flying, fishing guide, boat captain, head chef, hostess, master marketer, and corporate officer. I have always been one to stand up for what’s right especially for women because I know how hard it is for female professionals in any industry, but especially in male dominated fields. I wanted to use my skills and experience to start coaching and consulting. My first taste of consulting was when I acquired a contract with the Discovery Channel. I negotiated a deal to do the first land based reality show in Alaska. I consulted and hosted the producers and film crew at my lodge while they filmed the show. I was also coaching and consulting other lodges while I was running my company. I had gotten an opportunity to sell out of my lodge at an opportune time in 2009 when the real estate market crashed and the tourism industry in Alaska experienced a huge downturn. I bought a cabin in the remote wilderness in Kodiak, Alaska and proceeded to bring satellite internet into the wilderness to film my own reality show in Alaska, write my book and start coaching and consulting full time. Over the years I had been dividing my time summers in Alaska and winters in Florida. I wanted to move to Florida full time, which had been one of many ongoing battles within my marriage. In 2020 I finalized my divorce and moved to the Florida Keys where I began demonstrating all of the values and expectations that I have carried into the fabric of my being. I brought my talents and skills here to the Florida Keys where I offer my media, PR, and Brand building expertise with Davis Consulting Publicity Experts. I have been involved with nonprofits my whole life and when I took a board leadership course here I was so inspired that I founded KEEP IT IN THE KEYS INC. a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to protect and preserve our fragile Florida Keys environment and ecosystem using Media, PR, and the Freedom of Speech our 1st amendment the most important amendment because if we did not have the freedom of speech we would not have a voice. I am sure that a lot of us know what it is like to be told to sit down, shut up, and have people work against us to attempt to silence us. Our mission is to help others stand in their power and get your voice heard!
Every industry that is now a large-scale, top-notch business once started as a small idea in the minds of entrepreneurs. What was that idea or motivation that made you start your business /initiative? What motivated you within to say YES, go for it!”
My motivation and fire came from fighting for my own Freedom and in doing that I am fighting for the freedom for others in hopes to be an inspiration to women like myself that were told that we were not good enough, smart enough, pretty enough and that “IT” was impossible and “who do we think we are?” This is who we think we are…”America is too Great for Small dreams” RONALD REAGAN. Myself being the Spokesperson for WE THE PEOPLE I hope to inspire others to push back against those trying to hold us down because it is hard to break that glass ceiling all by ourselves and that by being vocal and speaking out others hear and resonate with our message and join forces. The motivation to say YES and go for it was from praying and saying yes to god and my calling. I learned that by speaking life into our goals and dreams opportunities follow. Nothing has ever been accomplished by keeping it a secret!
Tell us something about your initiative or current role. What is it about, and what impact are you trying to make?
Our KEEP IT IN THE KEYS current role and mission is to spread the word of TRUTH. I speak for WE THE PEOPLE and use our platform to hold space for others that have lost their voice or need support to get their voice and message out. With all of the demonstrating and activism that we have been doing for our freedoms we have been encouraged to run for office, Florida Congress District 28 as a matter of fact. As a congresswoman I can make a bigger difference and impact by being an elected official instead of lobbying the current office holders. The impact and difference that we strive to make is NONCONFORMITY, thinking for ourselves and advocating for traditional values and integrity. I am running for Congress to advocate for less government and more personal and fiscal responsibility. Our American Democracy has been the best model for government since it’s inception and it is my mission to work to preserve its integrity and to campaign for the importance of voting to make a difference. I got my inspiration from Susan B. Anthony who was an American social reformer and women’s rights activist who played a pivotal role in the women’s suffrage movement. She was the first woman to be on a US circulating coin, and was behind The Susan B. Anthony Amendment, “The right to vote shall not be denied on account of sex,” became the law of the land in 1920. She traveled around the country giving speeches, gathering thousands of signatures on petitions, and lobbying Congress every year for women.
Your journey and your vision are very inspiring, but are there any achievements or accomplishments you would like to mention?
Building my lodge 60 miles from the nearest town only accessible by bush plane or boat in Icy Bay Alaska. Having the largest National Park in the nation in my backyard, one of the 10 treasures of the world quoted by National Geographic. Being friends with and having the head of the National Park as a guest at my lodge. Being a part of a documentary called “Mt.St. Elias” I hosted and supported the climbers and the film crew at my lodge. I also supported the documentary with flying to accomplish the summit and decent of Mount Saint Elias, the tallest mountain in North America at 18,000 feet vertical rise from sea level. Writing and publishing an International best selling book, and working towards it being produced into a feature film and mini-series. My new and most fulfilling chapter starts with founding KEEP IT IN THE KEYS my nonprofit organization and now god willing running and winning a seat in our Florida Congress District 28!
Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity?
Anything is possible and where there is a will there’s a way! When you let god guide you god provides the path and opportunities
Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. There are cracks in glass ceilings everywhere, with many women breaking through to carve out a space right at the top of the pyramid. What are your thoughts about women leadership today?
When there are thoughts and dreams that won’t go away in your mind that is a sign to take action and consider it a calling. When we take action the path may be difficult or in some cases nonexistent but by supporting each other it makes it less difficult to be courageous. I have found that sometimes all it takes is someone to believe in us.
What would you want to say to our young women leaders/audience reading this?
My message to up and coming and current women leaders is practice these principles; DISCIPLINE and the THREE PILLARS; INTEGRITY COURAGE FREEDOM “v” – Jim Rohn “Integrity gives you REAL FREEDOM because you have nothing to fear and nothing to hide” Zig Ziglar “Self-control is the chief element in self-respect, and self-respect is the chief element in courage.” – Thucydides Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching.
