What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before starting your corporate journey/venture/initiative.
My childhood was a mix of good and dysfunctional experiences, but my family did their best given the circumstances. Reflecting on the situation, I realise that the level of trauma I experienced wasn’t present at the time, as I was just a child. However, I know that those times have played a massive role in shaping who I am today. As a child, I was fortunate to receive everything I wanted in terms of material items. I would express what I wanted, and my mum would save up to buy them for me, items like trainers, clothing, toys, and more. This upbringing instilled in me the belief that I could have anything I wanted. However, there were certain things I craved, such as traveling and exploring new places with my family, that weren’t offered to me, even when I asked. When I entered my late teens, I noticed that some things I desired had to be created on my own. Looking back, I can see how I created certain opportunities for myself, even without my family being in those places with me. I realise that following my inner guidance and by living life freely, I was able to seize those moments and make them happen. Although I am missing out on the part where I needed to take responsibility, this became an essential aspect of my recent adult years. As I have matured, I recognise that solely relying on my family or waiting for someone to create my desires for me, has the ability to halt my growth and experiences. I understand that if I want certain things in life, I have to take responsibility and make them happen myself. Like writing, stopping procrastinating and writing this interview!
Every industry that is now a large-scale, top-notch business once started as a small idea in the minds of entrepreneurs. What was that idea or motivation that made you start your business /initiative? What motivated you within to say YES, go for it!”
The motivation that led me to embark on my own Spiritual Health Journey was driven by an inner sense of clarity, focus, and a desire for direction in my life. When I made the daring decision to walk out of my job in September 2010 with no financial security, I knew I couldn’t afford to be dazed and confused. I had to make it happen, courage under fire… so to speak. The recent loss of my mum reminded me (again) of how to grab life by the horns and also see from past businesses that success isn’t just about work and achievements; it also means taking care of ourselves. That has meant, learning to harmoniously mix my goals with a deeper style of self-care, and this is crucial for me maintaining my sanity while creating long-term successes. Situations like this bring renewed clarity and focus, and therefore I am ready to come out of hiding, embracing all my vulnerabilities (I am not great at everything, I’ll admit that), that is why I allow myself to be seen by others (even when I am scared). I am so much more committed to calming my nervous system before taking action, while being guided by a sense of direction. A direction that gives me the ability to spend quality time with my family, pursue my own service-based business pursuits and prioritise self-care along the way. One reason why I didn’t just set up my businesses, I also started interviewing world leaders on my podcast ‘The Self-Love Greenlight‘ – For everything Self Love and Care when Running a Successful Business.
Tell us something about your initiative or current role. What is it about, and what impact are you trying to make?
In my current role, I am making a positive impact through a collaborative approach to business incorporating self-love and personal growth. Through my “Self Love Greenlight” podcast, I invite worldwide experts to provide valuable insights, guidance, and inspiration for entrepreneurs who run successful businesses. Spiritual Health Journeys, is about empowering established businesswomen to fully enjoy the life they have created while inspiring their audience to rise alongside them. This has all allowed me to find and create my own side businesses, from modelling for brands, housesitting to speaking/hosting workshops for retreats and events. Everything I do, has collaboration at its heart. Create unique pathways for collective growth and encourage others to infuse self-love into their own life’s, bringing their manifestations to life, all while making that lasting impact.
Your journey and your vision are very inspiring, but are there any achievements or accomplishments you would like to mention?
In terms of achievements and accomplishments, there are several significant milestones on my journey. Firstly, getting out of my own way and taking the step to participate in this interview demonstrates my commitment to personal growth and sharing my story. It signifies a willingness to embrace vulnerability and inspire others through my experiences. Another accomplishment is being able to put myself first and be present with my own family. Learning to strike a balance between business and the well-being of my loved ones has been a big achievement. It is allowing me to make meaningful connections (between myself and others) that are vital to my own internal happiness and success. Additionally, it has been the process of making peace with the past and embracing the future. By engaging in the inner work, I have been able to move forward with a sense of clarity and purpose. Being featured in publications such as SOULACY and Brainz Magazine further validates the impact of my journey, as it allows me to share my insights and inspire others on a worldwide scale. These all serve as reminders of the progress I have made not only in my personal life, but my professional one too.
Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity?
Given the opportunity, I would say to young budding women entrepreneurs, it is OKAY to NOT be great at everything. In a world like this, it is important that you do what you LOVE. Especially while love and personal growth create a positive change in the world. I envision a world where individuals fully embrace life while creating communities that are connected by that same love. A world where everyone can be themselves.
Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. There are cracks in glass ceilings everywhere, with many women breaking through to carve out a space right at the top of the pyramid. What are your thoughts about women leadership today?
I find women in leadership inspiring. What I love most, is seeing women embracing their authentic selves, they dare to show vulnerability and navigate challenges in spite of this. Their ability to be genuine and It shows all of us that we are all capable of rising. Their ability to be genuine is paving the way for future generations to lift even higher. Women will continue to break through those glass ceilings for years to come, creating a happier, unique and truly powerful environment for all.
