What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before the venture/ corporate journey?
Growing up, whilst I felt completely loved and cared for by my parents and generally had a good childhood, I had to witness a dysfunctional relationship between my parents, where my mother was physically, emotionally, and psychologically abused by my father. I also had low confidence and self-esteem issues.
Every industry that is now a large-scale, top-notch business once started as a small idea in the minds of entrepreneurs. What was that idea or motivation that made you start your business/initiative? What motivated you within to say “YES, go for it!”
The motivation that made me start my business is a combination of both my lived and professional experiences.
Professionally, I have a HR management background, so I’ve always been dedicated to building and sustaining relationships within the corporate environment.
On the personal side, like many others, I’ve had my fair share of setbacks and dramas in life, in dating and in relationships.
I have had painful situations that left me feeling hopeless, vulnerable, and unloved. From my youth to adult life, there always seemed to be some challenge or obstacle that knocked me down and the process of rising again was slow or the issue continued to run behind the scene.
The dysfunctional relationship between my parents and my mother courageously ending the relationship after 30 years, gave me great insight on how to overcome a dysfunctional relationship.
I also experienced one of my biggest heartaches and deepest sadness in 2008, when a long-term relationship did not work out.
Growing up, I had feelings of low self-worth, low self-esteem for many reasons and this breakup just perpetuated those feelings and I fell into a place of darkness and depression.
So much so, that I took an impulsive overdose and attempted suicide.
Following my suicide attempt, I took steps, which included getting professional help and undergoing cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to understand the impact that my relationship ending and long-standing self-defeating beliefs were having in my life.
It was through gaining this knowledge and the empowering techniques and seeing how I was able to overcome my difficulties, that I felt called to guide others to experience the same.
Hence, both my lived and professional experiences birthed my coaching business and I have spent years becoming skilled and experienced in the areas of coaching, personal development, self-confidence and in how to have a true connection with oneself, as well as in how to have a deep connection with a partner.
Tell us something about your initiative or current role. What is it about, and what impact are you trying to make?

Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity?
Everything starts with relationships. There is a quote: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” This for me emphasizes the significance of having an empowering, healthy, loving relationship with ourselves, as this sets the bar for the relationship of all kinds that we have with others. If this were to be a guiding principle for us all, good relationships would lead to a more positive, healthy and supportive world for all of us.
Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. There are cracks in glass ceilings everywhere, with many women breaking through to carve out a space right at the top of the pyramid. What are your thoughts about women’s leadership today?
It is great to see women becoming a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, with an increased representation of women in leadership roles, including top executive positions and on boards of directors across various industries.
I have heard of many companies providing programs and initiatives to support and promote the advancement of women in leadership roles, such as mentoring and networking opportunities, and training programs.
A changing attitude towards women in leadership is fantastic and promising that there is a growing recognition that women can be effective leaders and that diversity in leadership is beneficial for organisations.
It is to be acknowledged that there are still significant barriers in women achieving leadership positions across many industries and sectors and still a long way to go in terms of achieving gender parity in leadership roles.
However, the progress made in recent years is encouraging and suggests that the trend towards greater representation of women in leadership roles is likely to continue.
What would you want to say to our young women leaders/audience reading this?
One of my favourite quotes is by Eleanor Roosevelt: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.“
It is important to make sure that you keep on dreaming. Your dreams and taking inspired action towards receiving and achieving them are going to build your future and create your personal reality.
And to remember that developing healthy, fulfilling, loving relationships starts with knowing, trusting and loving yourself first.
