What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before starting your corporate journey/venture/initiative.
I was an entrepreneur at heart from a very young age. Although I went to school to become a teacher, within a few years of teaching, I realized I wasn’t as fulfilled as I thought I would be. Although I loved my students very much, I knew I wanted to help women in some way and needed to figure out how. I started doing women’s makeup from my home, booking bridal parties and created my own business out of it. I also started a baby clothing line that was sold in Boston. I was trying to find my purpose and calling in life. Next, I began working with a network marketing company and learned so much about leadership, how I can work hard and create my own success, and also make an income to match my efforts. This started a fire inside me. I then went on to start an all women’s boot camp and from there, my business grew, and for many years, it has evolved so much to where it is today.
Every industry that is now a large-scale, top-notch business once started as a small idea in the minds of entrepreneurs. What was that idea or motivation that made you start your business /initiative? What motivated you within to say YES, go for it!”
I was a risk taker from the start and I believed that if something I tried failed, I would try something else until it stuck. I loved the challenge of trying new things and never wanted to work for someone else. I wanted to create my own dream life and although it was never easy, I believe I am living it now.
Tell us something about your initiative or current role. What is it about, and what impact are you trying to make?
I am a faith fueled success coach, equipping women to live life, God’s way. I teach women biblical principles that empower them in all areas such as creating boundaries, being intentional, how to stay committed, rest, and goal setting. The impact I am making is for women to see themselves the way God sees them. I always say, life’s a climb, and no matter what we go through, God can equip us for battle and we will come out on the other side stronger if we never give up.
Your journey and your vision are very inspiring, but are there any achievements or accomplishments you would like to mention?
I am a breast cancer survivor, which is my biggest accomplishment. Also, while I was a fitness coach, I became a national 4X bikini champion during that time. I am a proud author and podcaster, both called Addicted To The Climb.
Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity?
I would love to see young women always put their best face forward and not look right or left, comparing themselves to anyone else. Accepting the gifts God has given them, finding out what they are, and using them for good, is my wish. We all have beautiful gifts inside us if we look deep enough.
Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. There are cracks in glass ceilings everywhere, with many women breaking through to carve out a space right at the top of the pyramid. What are your thoughts about women leadership today?
I feel women are just as strong and powerful with the beautiful gifts they bring to the world. God has a place for us women, just as He does for men. I admire the women who stand up for their beliefs, and take action to make the world a better place. If it wasn’t for the incredible and amazing women thought leaders I have met along my own journey, I am not sure where I would be today. I am thankful for those who have paved the way for young women and have opened doors of opportunity that might have never been open before. Women are a force, especially when they rise up together and I am so grateful for that.
What would you want to say to our young women leaders/audience reading this?
Believe in yourself and never give up on your dreams. Keep working hard without wavering and always keep your faith strong. Life is a battle, we all go through them, but you will be stronger with every climb you take if you keep going. God bless you on your journey through life!
